Dr. R. J. Righter was born and raised on a farm in Kansas during the post-war baby boom. He was the valedictorian of his high school class and went on to graduate from Kansas State University with a doctoral degree in Veterinary Medicine in 1972. After graduating, he practiced in the midwest for many years before moving to California in the 1980s.

Dr. Righter continues to love caring for animals and helping clients. He also has a knack for mentoring staff members who wish to sharpen their skills, learn new things, and sometimes even become veterinarians themselves. His positive attitude and understanding of nature have allowed him to be a healing presence wherever he goes. With over 4 decades of experience as a veterinarian, he has a wealth of knowledge, but he still enjoys learning more every day.

Dr. Righter has six wonderful, productive adult children, three of whom have followed in his footsteps and entered the medical field. He has eleven adorable grandchildren. No great-grandkids yet though. His constant companions at home are his wife, Leslie, and his faithful dog, Greta.
