Calling all cat fanatics! We love our feline patients at Bright Care and to honor them, we’ve compiled a list of our favorite cat movies over the years. Grab a bucket of popcorn (or some catnip) and join us for a summer movie marathon!
1. Pet Sematary (2019)
If you like scary movies, the 2019 reboot of Stephen King’s horror film adaptation is for you! The movie is about a couple and their cat who move to a new town and find a cemetery. They are then faced with a number of supernatural events.
2. The Aristocats (1970)
What’s better than a movie about cats? A movie about singing cats! The Aristocats has it all – mystery, romance, comedy, adventure, and incredibly catchy songs! It’s a great story that highlights the importance of family, honesty, and kindness.
3. The Adventures of Milo & Otis (1986)
Milo and Otis are classic characters who adorably fumble their way through life. They get into plenty of mischief along the way, but always manage to get out of it with each other’s help. Even though this movie is pretty old, it’s always relevant. Plus, your cat might enjoy seeing another kitty on the screen!
4. Garfield: The Movie (2004)
We all wish we could be Garfield. Even though the lazy cat loves to spend his time lounging about, eating, and making snarky comments, he’s always getting in tons of trouble. Luckily for us, it’s super entertaining to watch. Fans of the original comics will really enjoy this film.
5. Oliver & Company (1988)
Whoever is in charge at Disney is clearly a cat lover. Oliver & Company is fun, musical movie about a stray cat who finds a home with a bunch of homeless dogs. Interesting fact: This movie is actually Disney’s take on Charles Dickens’ novel, Oliver Twist. Talk about taking creative liberty!
6.The Lion King (1994)
Yes, lions are just big cats! They can be just as cute and cuddly as your house pet when they’re not ruling the animal kingdom. Before the live-action version of The Lion King (with Beyonce! OMG!) comes out this summer, refresh your memory by replaying the original movie. You won’t regret it.
7. The Secret Life of Pets (2016)
Although the main character is a dog in the movie, The Secret Life of Pets also features Chloe, a tabby cat with a lot of spunk. The box office hit was so successful that a sequel was released this summer! Check it out in theaters while it’s still showing.
8. Life of Pi (2012)
This beautiful story about an unexpected friendship between a boy and a tiger is sure to make you appreciate your cat a little more. Tigers may be scary, but they’re still cats at heart. The Life of Pi is also beautifully shot and directed – it won’t disappoint!
9. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, & the Wardrobe (2005)
Dive into the fantastical world of Narnia with this movie. The Lion, the Witch, & the Wardrobe has everything, including talking animals, magic, and turkish delights. Plus, the snowy universe may help you at least imagine you’re cooler than you are in the hot summer.
10. Sailor Moon S: The Movie
Sailor Moon is the ultimate evil-fighting heroine of the 90s, but she wouldn’t be quite as successful without her talking cat and mentor, Luna. In this installment of the series, Luna takes center stage and gets the attention she deserves. You definitely won’t want to miss out on this animated masterpiece!
